Vlorë Boat Trips: Routes, Costs and Which Trip to Pick
Boat trips from Vlorë run to Haxhi Ali Cave, Sazan Island and Grama Bay, from half-day cave runs to a full day south. Here are the routes and trade-offs.
On this page
A boat trip from Vlorë is best chosen by length and by how far south it goes, not by the headline price. A four-hour run gives you Haxhi Ali Cave and a Karaburun swim stop, four to five hours adds a circuit of Sazan Island, and a full day pushes on to Dafina Bay or Grama Bay. These are a few of the Things to Do in Vlorë.
All of these trips start on the water side of the city: the speedboats loaded from the Lungomare, Vlorë's seafront promenade, which is where you board and where you return. This guide sets out the four route shapes, the published fares for 2026, what the ticket does and does not include, and the sea and park rules worth knowing before you pay.
What a boat trip from Vlorë actually visits
The boats work the Karaburun Peninsula and the Karaburun–Sazan Marine Park, the protected water and cliffs that close the bay to the west and south. The usual stops are Haxhi Ali Cave on the Karaburun shore, the coves and beaches of the peninsula, and Sazan Island at the mouth of the bay. Longer trips continue to Dafina Bay, the Blue Cave and Grama Bay.
Operators in Vlorë run the same handful of names with different formats. Trips4Fun works by RIB boat and refitted speedboats to Grama Bay, Sazan Island and Haxhi Ali Cave, with a guided snorkelling tour and a private charter where you set the route towards Sazan, Karaburun, hidden beaches and sea caves. Vlora Boat Trips groups its departures under Blue Cave, Sazan Island with Haxhi Ali Cave and Karaburun, and Secret Blue Cave with Grama Bay.

The short half-day: Haxhi Ali Cave and a Karaburun swim stop
The shortest route is the cave run. TripMe Today's Haxhi Ali Cave and Karaburun trip takes about four hours, with three departures a day and a swim stop on the Karaburun Peninsula after the cave. It is the trip to take if you want sea time without giving up the rest of the day.
A morning or early-afternoon slot leaves room for the old town afterwards. Lagjia Muradie, the neighbourhood around the Muradie Mosque and the Independence Monument, is a short walk back up from the seafront, so a 09:00 or 11:30 departure still leaves the afternoon free for Vlorë Old Town.

Adding Sazan Island: the former military island at the mouth of the bay
Sazan sits at the entrance to Vlorë Bay and spent decades as a closed military zone, with Italian and then Albanian installations, tunnels and restricted access. You see bunkers on the ridges and empty beaches from the water, which is how most boat tours from Vlorë take in the island. The same operator's island route runs four to five hours and adds a scenic circuit of Sazan and open-water views before the Haxhi Ali Cave swim.
The catch is landing. Access rules and landing permissions can change with park management, so some days the trip circles the island and swims offshore rather than putting you ashore. If stepping onto Sazan matters to you, ask your skipper or booking office which days include a landing.
The full day: Dafina Bay, or the eight-hour Grama Bay and Blue Cave route
Two full-day shapes exist. The Dafina Bay and Karaburun beaches trip runs six to seven hours with one departure, combining Haxhi Ali Cave, Dafina Bay and Dafina Cave and more swimming time on the Karaburun beaches. It suits travellers who want a slower day without the long run to the far end of the peninsula.
The Grama Bay and Blue Cave Grand Tour is the long one: eight hours with eight named stops, including Haxhi Ali Cave, Dafina Bay and Dafina Cave, Gjiri i Brisanit, Kanioni i Skafistave, Gjiri i Inglezit, Gjiri i Nezhajve and the Blue Cave, finishing with two hours at Grama Bay. It is the only one of these departures with food and drinks included, and you cannot bring your own on board.
Grama Bay is remote and reached by sea, so the eight-hour commitment is the price of seeing it. If your holiday allows only one day on the water and you care more about variety of scenery than about maximum swim time, this is the route to take; if you want a cave and a swim, the half-day does the job.
How much a boat trip from Vlorë costs, and what the fare covers
For 2026, TripMe Today publishes €23 per adult for the four-hour Haxhi Ali Cave and Karaburun trip, €25 for the four-to-five-hour Sazan Island route, and €55 for both the Dafina Bay day and the eight-hour Grama Bay Grand Tour. Children aged 3 to 11 pay €20 on the half-day trips and €45 on the full days, and from 12 they pay the adult fare.
The same page gives a November fare of €65 for adults and €55 for children on the Grand Tour, a seasonal variation rather than the standard price. Every tour includes life jackets and safety gear, fuel and boat costs, insurance and a live guide in Albanian, English and Italian. Hotel pickup and sunbeds or umbrellas on the beaches are not included, so budget separately for anything you hire on shore.
Prices across Vlorë vary widely for the same names. The difference usually comes down to trip length, how far down the peninsula the boat runs, whether food is provided, group seat versus private charter priced per boat, and commission added by booking platforms. Compare duration, stops, food and departure point before you look at the number.
Where the boats leave from and how to book
Departures are from the Vlorë Lungomare, where speedboats load and return through the season. TripMe Today lists a season of May through October with departures at 09:00, 11:30 and 14:00 on the half-day routes and 10:30 on the full days; booking is online by card and you board with an emailed ticket rather than paying on the boat.
Other operators are contacted directly. Trips4Fun is based on Rruga Murat Tërbaçi and takes enquiries by phone, WhatsApp or email, while Vlora Boat Trips is on Rruga Pelivan Leskaj and books through its site. Neither publishes a fare list, so ask for the price per adult, the child rate and the departure point before you commit.
Boat Trip Juli runs from Vlorë to Karaburun, Haxhi Ali Cave, Sazan Island and Grama Bay. Its listing does not give fares or timings, so message Boat Trip Juli with your dates and party size and ask what is included in writing.
Half-day or full day: choosing by time, sea conditions and whether you want to land on Sazan
Start with how much of the day you want to give up. The four-hour cave run fits around lunch or a late start; the Sazan circuit needs four to five hours; Dafina Bay six to seven; Grama Bay a full eight, from 10:30 to 18:30. On a short break in the city, the half-day leaves time for the old town and the seafront.
Then think about open water. The leg around Sazan can have more motion than staying close to the Karaburun shore, so anyone prone to seasickness should say so when booking and consider the shorter cave route. Skippers may also shorten cave time if the wind rises, and routes change when conditions make them unsafe.
Families generally do well on the Sazan route, but younger toddlers are better suited to the shorter four-hour trip. Children need their own seat and life jacket, so add them to the guest count when you book rather than turning up with an extra passenger.
Rules inside the Karaburun–Sazan Marine Park and what to bring
Sazan and Karaburun sit inside the Karaburun–Sazan Marine Park, so the usual protected-area rules apply: do not remove stones, disturb wildlife or leave litter at swim stops. Take anything you bring back to Vlorë rather than leaving it on a beach.
Pack for a day in the sun and on the water: water and a snack for trips where food is not provided, sun protection, and a light layer for the return leg when the boat is moving. Binoculars earn their place on the Sazan circuit, where the cliffs and bunker lines reward a closer look.
Sea conditions, weather changes and cancellation terms
Sea state decides the day. When wind or waves make a route unsafe, the boat company changes the route, moves you to another day or refunds you, and TripMe Today gives free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure on its own bookings. Read the cancellation terms of whichever company you book with before paying, because they are not identical across companies.
Leave slack in your plans if the boat day is fixed to a single date. A route moved for weather is easier to absorb when you have a spare morning in Vlorë, and keeping the boat trip early in the stay gives you that room. If you are prone to seasickness, note that the open-water leg is the one most likely to be affected.
Which Vlorë boat trip should you book?
Book the four-hour Haxhi Ali Cave and Karaburun trip if you want the cave and a swim without losing the day. Choose the Sazan Island route for open-sea views and the island's military landscape, accepting that you may see it from the water rather than land on it.
Take the Dafina Bay day for a slower six to seven hours among the Karaburun beaches, or the eight-hour Grama Bay Grand Tour if you want the far end of the peninsula and food on board. Whichever you pick, book from the Lungomare, confirm the child rate and check what the fare excludes before you pay.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you visit Sazan Island without a tour?
There is no regular public ferry to Sazan, so organised boat tours from Vlorë are the standard way to reach it. Landing depends on current park rules, though, and on some days the boat circles the island and swims offshore instead, so ask when you book which it will be.
Do you pay on the boat or online?
It depends on the operator. TripMe Today takes card payment online when you book and issues an e-ticket you show when boarding from the Vlorë Lungomare. Other Vlorë operators take enquiries by phone, WhatsApp, email or their own booking page, so settle payment and ticket arrangements ahead of the day.
Which is better, Sazan Island or Grama Bay?
Sazan is a four-to-five-hour circuit with island views, a landing when rules allow, Haxhi Ali Cave and a Karaburun swim. Grama Bay is the eight-hour full day with eight named stops and food included. Pick Sazan if you want variety in half a day and Grama if you want the full crossing and are happy to commit the whole day.
How long does the boat trip to Haxhi Ali Cave take?
The cave route published by TripMe Today takes about four hours, with three departures a day and a swim stop on the Karaburun Peninsula. Longer trips include the cave as one stop rather than the main event, so check the itinerary if the cave is your priority.
